This was a super fun project shot in downtown L.A. We worked with the Doner team to execute this campaign specifically designed for Instagram and social channels. To ensure the campaign had a motion component (despite a tight budget) we worked into the shot list a series of animated GIFS created entirely from still photography.

Our shot list was ambitious for a single day shoot, and on top of that, the goal was to end up with a body of work that felt like it was shot in various urban areas around the country. This was a fun challenge. I spent a lot of time location scouting in advance to find special little nooks and crannies of downtown L.A. that could give us a little taste of Brooklyn, Chicago or SF. I also studied the light at each location to determine the best time of day for each shot. Our final shooting schedule was planned down the minute as we shuttled crew, talent and agency to over a dozen stops.

L.L. Bean is primarily an outdoor/adventure brand, so to resonate with a city audience our stylist paired key brand items with off-brand urban wear, giving it an authentic vibe. The result was a fresh take that expanded the brand’s reach to a new market, and also spread a great message. Now take a break, and get outside!
