Dakine

Some of the best projects are the ones where a client trusts you enough to come back. Dakine — a legendary name in action sports — brought me in for a shoot, and later returned with bigger ambitions. Their "Journey With Us" campaign was a fully integrated push spanning stills and motion across a wide range of deliverables.

As I often do, I wore two hats — shooting stills while directing a DP for motion. To prepare, I created shot lists that served both formats through a single narrative arc, every setup earning its keep twice. I also did extensive location scouting so we could move quickly with our lean crew.

The campaign was shot on the California coast. We worked a long stretch of Malibu, captured the texture and characters of the Venice Beach Boardwalk, and grounded one chapter in downtown LA — three distinct visual worlds, one brand voice. All locations fully permitted!
